Cape Town - An Hermanus family has been left devastated after a woman was brutally killed, allegedly by her boyfriend who has been charged with murder.
Siphokazi Prince, 32, was found dead on Saturday morning at her boyfriend’s residence.
Neighbours became suspicious when her boyfriend, Bongumusa Solomon, allegedly asked them for a saw and black refuse bags.
The victim’s aunt, Unathi Prince, said the couple had broken up but got back together three days before she was stabbed to death.
“On Friday night they went out for dinner, and they ended up at his place. No-one knows what happened when they got there.
“Police were called to the scene, he was subsequently arrested. We don’t know what time he killed her,” said Prince.
Police spokesperson, Wesley Twigg, said detectives registered a murder case for investigation following the stabbing in Tshandu Street, Zwelihle.
“Police members attended the crime scene where they found the victim with stab wounds to her body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
“We can confirm that an adult male was arrested in connection with the murder and appeared in the Hermanus Magistrate’s Court.”
Solomon is expected to apply for bail on Monday.
Prince said they were called to the house where they found Siphokazi’s corpse.
She described Siphokazi as a loving person who worked with children.
“She didn’t have children of her own. We are devastated and in shock, this murder has left a lot of people sick, we are traumatised, we call each other around 2am because we can no longer sleep. I hear Siphokazi cry every night
“The elderly people in our family are in and out of the hospital. We didn’t expect this to happen to us, she was such a loving person who loved peace," said Prince.
