Cape Town - The police say they have arrested at least one suspect believed to be behind the fatal shooting of Mitchells Plain former gang boss.

On Monday, the Daily Voice revealed that Kaldimola ‘Dimes’ Madatt the former boss of the Americans died in a hail of bullets on Sunday in what appears to be a gang hit.

The newspaper said that Madatt was shot at least 11 times while his bodyguard was also wounded in the shooting.

According to the paper, Madatt and his bodyguard were in the process of leaving a house on North West Street in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain after the former gang boss received a call notifying him that people had been sent to kill him.

“Our source revealed that as Madatt and his security left the house, as many as seven shooters pulled up in a white Toyota Etios and a red bakkie and opened fire,” the Voice said.

Police spokesperson Frederick Van Wyk said on Sunday afternoon, November 6 Mitchells Plain police received a complaint of a shooting incident in Monsoon road, Rocklands.

Upon their arrival, police found the body of a 56-year-old male who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Van Wyk said that the motive for the attack is gang-related.

On Tuesday morning, Van Wyk said the police in their follow-up investigation arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the killing and attempted killing.

Van Wyk said: “The suspect faces a charge of murder and attempted murder.

“He is expected to appear in court once charged.”
