ActionSA recruits 33 former ABC, ABMM, ANC, ATM, DA and EFF politicians

Durban — Political party ActionSA has boosted its political footprint in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) by attracting 33 politicians and councillors from opposition parties.

ActionSA president Herman Mashaba and KZN provincial chairperson, Zwakele Mncwango, welcomed the former councillors and leaders joining the party in Durban on Tuesday.

Mashaba regarded this as groundbreaking for KZN. ActionSA was launched on August 29, 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Mashaba welcomed leaders from various political parties with diverse political backgrounds to join a common purpose to bring social justice, economic prosperity, ethical leadership and non-racialism to KZN.

With the new appointments, Mashaba believes ActionSA can restore hope and bring necessary change in the 2024 elections.

The 33 politicians include 22 (former) DA members, seven Abantu Batho Congress (ABC) members, as well as single members from the Abahlali BaseMkhanyakude Movement (ABMM), EFF, ANC and ATM.

Mashaba said they contested their first elections and emerged as the sixth biggest political party.

“As ActionSA, we have a huge responsibility. Come 2024, we will remove the ANC from power and work with other political parties to form a multiparty government that can save this country,” he said.

Responding to ActionSA’s crowing over its feat, KZN DA MPL Francois Rodgers said: “It appears ActionSA has attracted political driftwood to try to grow its 3% support, which as a political party they are fully entitled to.”

2. Sboniso Mabika – ex-ABC KZN deputy secretary.

3. Mimi Mali – ex-ABC KZN treasurer.

4. Mlandomuhle Mbatha – Former ABC Umzinyathi District secretary.

5. Sipho Mhlongo – Former ABC King Cetshwayo District chairperson.

6. Bhekisisa Ncube – Former independent candidate and branch deputy secretary from ANC.

7. Zipho Silwane – Secretary of Abahlali BaseMkhanyakude Movement.

8. Busisiwe Mlambo – ABC Umhlabuyalingana constituency chairperson.

9. Sonto Mabika – ABC Umkhanyakude District chairperson.

10. Thabani Gumede – From EFF.

11. Bruce Sutcliffe – From DA.

12. Rafeek Shah – Ex-DA councillor.

13. Sbusiso Mncwabe – Former ATM MP and national spokesperson.
