Durban — In an effort to respond to South Africa’s housing challenges, Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi will convene a human settlements indaba at the Durban Exhibition Centre on Saturday.
The theme of the indaba will be how to transform human settlements through accelerated planning, implementation of policies, and public-private partnerships.
The conference aims to mobilise private investors, academia, NGOs and traditional leaders to partner with the government to accelerate the delivery of sustainable human settlements across the country.
In line with the government’s pronouncements and its 2019-2024 medium-term strategic framework on the importance of transforming human settlements into well-functioning, socially and economically integrated places, the indaba will also strengthen strategic partnerships with sector stakeholders.
Kubayi said this would ensure the government realised spatial transformation, adequate housing and security of tenure through the provision of housing opportunities and improved high-quality living environments.
