Durban — A private security company was instrumental in the recovery of two vehicles stolen in separate incidents outside Durban on Friday night.

Marshall Security’s director Tyron Powell said their team members responded to two separate incidents where vehicles had been snatched and managed to recover both successfully.

Powell said at about 8pm members of their special operations team were activated by CarTrack after a grey VW Polo was stolen during a house robbery in the KwaMashu area by gunmen.

“Our members immediately responded and recovered the vehicle which was found abandoned on Mkhonto Road in KwaMashu’s N section within five minutes of our members being activated, together with the assistance of the CarTrack ground team and the metro police,” Powell said.

He said later on at about 9.20pm, their special operations team was again activated, this time to assist Tracker SA with a Toyota Fortuner, stolen in the Westville area.

“After an extensive tracking, the vehicle was found abandoned and recovered at about 9.50pm in Ntuzuma D section by the SAPS Phoenix assisted by members of our special operations team and Tracker SA’s ground team,” Powell said.

He added that both scenes were secured and were being processed and investigated further by the police.

Police have been approached for comment.
