Durban — Many eThekwini residents woke up without water and were left wondering what happened, especially after the eThekwini Municipality issued its public notice on an interruption of water supply in certain areas late on Monday.
After 8pm, the municipality, on its Facebook page, said there would be an interruption of water supply in areas supplied by the southern aqueduct downstream of Alpine Drive.
“Residents are informed of an interruption of water supply in areas supplied by the Southern Aqueduct,” the municipality said.
“The interruption is due to an emergency repair on leaks that have been identified on the pipeline in Alpine Drive vicinity at Shallcross.”
The municipality said that repairs were expected to start at 6am today (August 16) and will last until 10pm.
These are the areas which are affected:
uMlazi (all sections), Nsimbini, Folweni, Golokodo, Arena Park, Bayview, Buffels Bosch, Bulbul, Burlington Heights, Chatsworth Town Centre, Coedmore, Croftdene, Crossmoor, Ehlanzeni, Ezihyathini, Havenside, Hillary, Kharwastan, Klaarwater, Kwamgaga, Malvern, Mariannhill Industrial Park, Memorial Park, Mobeni Heights, Montford, Moorton, Moseley Park, Mount Vernon, Northdene, Queensburgh, Queensmead Industrial, Risecliff, Savannah Park, Shallcross, Silverglen, St Wendolins Ridge, Umhlatuzana, Welbedacht East, Welbedacht West, Westcliff, Woodhurst, Woodlands and Yellowwood Park.
The municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused.
