As the matriculation class of 2024 bid farewell to their school days, they have a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on their less privileged by donating their uniforms to less fortunate pupils. Uniforms are very expensive these days and many pupils are struggling to afford to buy their uniforms.

It is significantly important for children of today to appreciate that there are others that are less fortunate than themselves and by doing so, would embark on a culture that fosters compassion and kindness as stated in Anne Frank's diary“ No one became poor by giving".

They must be aware of the plight of less fortunate people. Sadly though I noticed some matriculants had chosen to write on their clothing and cover themselves with coloured powder etc, an act that has no value. These uniforms have benefits to people that cannot afford them. We should become more self-aware of people less fortunate, in doing so we stand a chance of building a better country.

It is very important to remember, when we provide uniforms to those in need, we are just not clothing them, we are empowering them to succeed It will be an excellent gesture for schools to implement this initiative and I hope eventually all schools follow through in the same light, ensuring that we produce leaders that will take care of the people of this country. Leaving their uniform behind to be donated is a sign of gratitude. This legacy must be perpetuated.
