Musical superstars Busta Rhymes and Jason Derulo have been announced as the replacement headline acts for the DStv Delicious Festival in Johannesburg this weekend.

This is as R&B singer Janet Jackson had to withdraw from the event after the death of her brother, Tito Jackson on Sunday, September 25.

“Following recent changes to the festival line-up, including Janet Jackson's withdrawal due to her brother Tito Jackson's recent passing, the festival organisers have worked tirelessly to ensure the experience remains extraordinary for fans,” the organisers said in a statement.

“We send our deepest condolences and support to Janet and her family during this time of mourning.”

They added that Rhymes and Derulo will perform at the event at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on Saturday, September 21.

“With Busta Rhymes and Jason Derulo set to bring their legendary hip hop and pop energy to the stage, fans can expect unforgettable performances from these incredibly celebrated artists,” they added.

As a 12-time Grammy Award nominated artist, Rhymes is renowned for hits like "Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check," "Break Ya Neck," and " I Know What You Want." He has also collaborated with the likes of Missy Elliott and Mariah Carey.

Meanwhile, Derulo is an international pop sensation who has sold over 200 million records worldwide. Since his debut back in 2008, he has made a name for himself with songs like "Talk Dirty," "Wiggle" and "Savage Love".

Meanwhile, award-winning music superstar Jill Scott will headline the gathering on Sunday, 22 September.

The local musicians who are billed to perform during the two-day festival include Thandiswa Mazwai, Sjava, Soweto Gospel Choir, Boom Shaka, Khuli Chana, Toss, OkMalumkoolkat, Morafe and Cassper Nyovest.

They will be joined by Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse andLoyiso Bala, amongst others.

There will also be musical tributes to Kiernan “AKA”, HHP, Lebo Mathosa, Mandoza, Pro Kid, Johnny Cleggand Riky Rick.

In addition, The Channel O Dance Stage, in partnership with Johnnie Walker Blonde, will feature an electrifying mix of South Africa's top DJs and performers, including DBN Gogo, Kabza De Small, PH and Shimza.

“Festival-goers can also look forward to performances by Reason, Nkosazana Daughter, and Zee Nxumalo, ensuring the dance floor stays packed all weekend.”

This year's festival will also feature the 30 Years of Creative Freedom Tribute Show presented by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.

“The show will honour iconic South African musicians whose contributions to the arts have shaped South Africa’s soundscape,” the organisers added.

Apart from the prestigious music line-up, the Proudly South African Delicious Mile at the event will be a culinary adventure for food lovers.

“Festival-goers can enjoy gourmet offerings from renowned local and international food trucks and stalls, including DimsumFest, Tiger's Milk, Daruma by Oskido, Buns & Bowls, La Mama and The Gourmet Shrine, among many others.”

“Whether it's a classic burger, mouth-watering pizza, or local favourites, there's something for everyone.”

There will also be a range of sweet treats, other snacks and beverages on offer.

General admission tickets are priced at R1 050, with premium lounge options starting at R3 250 for the Savanna Delicious Lounge (sold out for Saturday but available for Sunday) and R8 350 for the all-inclusive Injabulo Too Lounge on The VIP Terrace.

“We understand the concerns around ticket changes and are working hard to ensure a smooth experience for all festival-goers,” the organisers said.

They added that their official ticketing partner, Ticketmaster, handles all ticket-related queries and that according to their purchase policy, refunds are not offered for events that proceed as scheduled.

”However, we encourage you to review the policy for more details regarding any specific conditions that may apply.

“Please note, festival-goers who have opted to exchange their Saturday tickets for Sunday tickets will unfortunately not be able to exchange them back to Saturday should they wish to do so.”
