His distinctive sound, blending elements of kwaito and house has endeared him to fans of all ages.

After his unexpected health setback, many worried that the talented musician might take an extended hiatus, but he has proven that his passion for music and resilience is stronger than ever.

On January 13, Derrango excitedly announced on his social media platforms that he had rejoined forces with the "Osama" hitmaker to create new music.

"It is true — when the time is right, everything falls into place," he shared with his followers.

"As promised to our fans, who have been with us all these years through thick and thin, through sickness and health. We have heeded your call and we went back to the studio with my dear brother @zakesbantwini.

“This is for the fans, to be released soon. Thank you, brother leader, sir @zakesbantwini. Uthando lunye."

As he prepares to unveil this new single, Derrango’s focus is not only on his artistry but also on raising awareness about health issues that can affect creatives in the industry.

In a recent interview with Independent Media Lifestyle, he reflected on how his personal experiences with stroke inspired him to educate others on risk factors, warning signs, and preventive measures.

He emphasised the importance of lifestyle changes for a full recovery.

“I wasn't able to attend certain events. Many things have changed around me and I no longer just eat anything.”

Derrango stressed that strokes can impact individuals at any age, challenging the stereotype that they primarily concern older adults.

“It can be found on anyone. I just want people to know that it's not just for old people; even young people can be affected,” he advised. “Let's take care of ourselves and start eating well. Yes, we survive as people who have had a stroke.”

He also shared insights from his journey, highlighting that recovery requires patience, resilience and a robust support system.

“Stroke is very challenging as you need to adjust and depend on someone. It has been a long journey for me, especially as an artist. I want people to know that they must take their health seriously. I'm a living example that you can come back from this.”
