Rapper Cassper Nyovest has announced that he will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of his debut album “Tsholofelo” with a big celebration at popular venue Zone 6, in Soweto.
In a social media post, the “Doc Shebeleza” hitmaker began by reflecting on the meaning of the release, doing it with no record label and with the support of his fans.
“It’s been 10yrs since my first album Tsholofelo dropped, though I did this without any record label backing, no financial support & marketing budgets.. I never felt alone cos YOU, the fans!!! The fans were & remain my strongest partners in this journey!”
He explained that it wouldn't be right for the milestone not to be celebrated. “It wouldn’t be right for this 10yr milestone of OURS to pass by without a proper celebration.. Let’s take it to the iconic Zone 6 venue in Soweto.”
Cassper Nyovest 10 years of “Tsholofelo” takes place on October 26. The line-up features Kabza De Small, K.O, Musa Keys, Abidoza, Kamo Mphela, Nobantu Vilakazi, Nadia Nakai, Toss, Gemini Major, Big Hash and Emtee.
The album “Tsholofelo” had hits such as “Phumakim”, “Doc Shebeleza” and “Tsibip”. It reached radio success with high rotation and making impressive rankings on the chart.
In August, Cassper Nyovest reflected on the album’s success, thanking God for his talent, protection and grace, even when he was in the wilderness.
“The album went on to win many awards and is the best selling Hip Hop Album of all time. It started debates and is a case study in many rooms. It’s because of this album that today kids know they can do it all in their bedroom and nobody is running to labels to be signed and enslaved.”
