As couples around the globe celebrate Valentine's Day, the emotional landscape of love is juxtaposed with those grappling with heartbreak.

Afrikaans country-singer, Chereé steps into this emotional realm with her new single, “Heart”, written by Sunette Bridges.

The song carries a deeply personal message, inspired by Bridges’ own experiences of struggle and resilience, offering a beacon of hope for anyone facing the challenges of love and loss.

Forgiveness and self-love are at the heart of this song, messages that both Chereé and Bridges hope to share with listeners this Valentine’s Day.

The mastermind behind the lyrics, Bridges shared: “I wrote the lyrics for ‘Heart’ while struggling with heartbreak myself, spending countless hours in conversation with my own soul.

“I refused to let the darkness of sorrow consume me. I realised that my healing was in my own hands and that this pain, too, would pass, if I just held on and believed that I would make it through.”

Chereé, who is well-known for her albums, “Another Day”, “Mamma” and “Country Girl” among others added that this song is for everyone facing Valentine’s Day with a broken heart.

“It’s a song about resilience and new beginnings, about forgiveness and acceptance and the journey toward healing. To truly love someone else, you first need to love yourself and allow light into your life.

“With ‘Heart’, I want to encourage everyone to have a conversation with their own heart and make the choice to step out of the shadows and into the light.”

The production of “Heart” took place in Nashville, where Bridges collaborated with Bob Minner and Denny Hemingson.

Chereé’s heartfelt rendition captures raw emotion, reflecting her own journey of love, pain and ultimately, joy.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better artist than Chereé to bring this song to life,” Bridges said.

Sunette hopes the single will inspire others to embrace their own journeys of healing.

“This is a song about perseverance and starting over, about forgiveness and acceptance. If you’re alone today, let this song be yours! Climb that mountain and don’t look back until you’ve reached the top. The view is breathtaking!”
