Driving a luxury German vehicle is an indicator of success, but it could also point to something else: an inability to park!
This is according to the results of a new study by Scrap Car Comparison, which named BMW drivers as the worst parkers on the road.
According to the research, published by GQ, just under half of all drivers (48%) are not confident in their parking skills.
And while the results show that luxury German car owners struggle the most with parking, BMW owners stood out, with 68% admitting they needed practice getting their vehicles into parking bays, and 1 in 6 saying they feel ashamed of their parking abilities.
The drivers of German brands Audi and Mercedes-Benz came in second and third, behind BMW, while Honda, Toyota, and Kia vehicle owners also ranked their parking skills lower than average.
In the same lot as German car owners are electric vehicle (EV) drivers, 66% of whom say they need help with parking, compared to 49% of hybrid and petrol vehicle owners and 39% of diesel drivers.
To deal with the issue, Scrap Car Comparison came up with an innovation: a ‘B' sticker. Like the red ‘L' indicates a learner driver, the ‘B' will signify "bad parker" and buy some indulgence as users navigate into bays - for those brave enough to use one.
