The first date is the most important because it sets the tone if there will be a second date or not.

On the first date, you want to make a good impression without giving away too much information. Normally, your date would look at what you do more than what you say because “action speaks louder than words”.

First date drinks can reveal a lot about the other person, according to drinks expert Daniel Ufland. Our clothing choices, body language, meeting location, and conversation all contribute to these revelations.

“Someone’s taste in drinks can give away certain things about them that they may not reveal with words,” said Ufland.

“While we should never judge a book by its cover, drink tastes can be read by a perceptive observer as ‘tells’ about a person’s character – and their mood and intentions.

“A first date is a situation in which the way a person feels and how they see things going may be very important to you – and them!”

Below is a list of common drinks people order on a first date and what they say about them.

Whiskey on the rocks: It’s usually a bold person who knows what they want that would go for such a strong drink.

Martini: It’s for the sophisticated and classy people who want to hide their shyness.

Vodka soda/ hard seltzers: It’s mostly easygoing and open-minded people who would go for this drink. They aren’t really bothered by other people and just want to focus on you.

Craft beer: They are usually trendy, and in most cases, it’s creatives who enjoy craft beer.

Rum and Coke: They are fun and like to explore, so you’re in for good laughter throughout the date and maybe an adventure on your next one.

Wine: A person who orders wine on a first date is more reserved until the second glass, they start to loosen up and get comfortable enough to talk more about themselves.

Nojito: People who order non-alcoholics are fierce and tend to be mind readers.

Pro tip: Whatever you decide to drink, don’t overindulge and don’t drink and drive.
