Air fryers have become a common kitchen appliance in many parts of the world. Many people enjoy experimenting with different types of air fryer recipes.

From simple snacks to decadent desserts, videos show a wide range of foods that can be made using this appliance. But some experiments are going too far.

Recently, a clip showed a woman attempting to make tea in an air fryer. Yes, you read that right!

Digital creator Whitney Ainscough has taken unconventional tea-making methods to a whole new level after she revealed she makes hers in the air fryer, where there were still a few chips lingering from another meal.

In a reel posted on Instagram, Ainscough places what seems to be an empty ceramic mug in the basket of an air fryer.

She adds a tea bag inside and tops it with cold tap water. She adds two teaspoons of sugar to the cup. She shuts the air fryer with the cup inside and starts the timer for 6 minutes.

After some time, she opens it to show how the tea leaves have begun to impart colour. She suggests adding some milk while "it is still brewing". She does so and then puts the cup back in to continue heating.

Later, she brings the basket out to show us the prepared tea.

Instagram users were quick to share their opinions on this viral video. Some found it pointless, while others hoped it was just for laughs.

Many people were also concerned about the condition of the air fryer shown.

“This is such a disgrace to us Brits”, one wrote. “How dare you make it in an air fryer? That is diabolical.”

Another chimed in: “Spilling milk in the air fryer was my final straw.”

Others were quick to ask why she didn't use a kettle, with a user commenting: “They invented a kettle for a good reason.”

One viewer went as far as to even offer to buy her a kettle themselves.

“Six minutes for that. I’m good two minutes for a kettle to boil for me and it will be decent”

While some were “crying in British”, others saw the funny side to the viral clip, commenting on the chips left in the air fryer.
