Keep your digestive system calm by consuming fennel seeds, ginger, yoghurt and papaya, say experts. Nutritionists and dietitians Nmami Agarwal and Mehar Rajput list these digestive saviours:

Ginger: It aids digestion, and reduces inflammation and heartburn. This soothes the intestinal tract. Have a sip of ginger water with a few drops of lemon after every meal.

Fennel seeds: Phytonutrients in fennel give it antioxidative properties and helps reduce gas and bloating. Chewing the seeds or making tea with it will stimulate the secretion of digestive enzymes.

Cumin seeds: These help

in the secretion of various digestive enzymes in the pancreas that aid in digestion.

Probiotic: Probiotics are the live micro-organisms that promote a healthy digestive tract and immune system. People can get probiotics in foods like yoghurt, which also prevent urinary tract infections, allergies and colds.

Papaya: The magic's in the enzymes papain and chymo- papain. It's a popular cure for an upset stomach, diarrhoea and indigestion, and it helps with constipation.
