This year saw scores of high profile stars from various industries heading for splitsville.

From Hollywood superstars to a two-time Rugby World Cup winner and his wife getting a divorce, here are some of the biggest celebrity break ups for 2024.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

JLo shocked the world when she filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August.

The 55-year-old pop superstar was engaged to the Hollywood actor, 52, in the early 2000s before breaking up. The pair famously reconciled in 2021but they split up again this year after two years of marriage.

According to documents obtained by “TMZ”, the “Jenny From the Block” singer filed the legal documents on August 20 at the L.A. County Superior Court, without an attorney.

The date of separation is listed as April 26, 2024, but the day the actress filed for divorce coincides with the second anniversary of their second ceremony in Georgia, which followed their initial wedding service in Las Vegas two months prior.

Lopez, who has 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony and is stepmother to Affleck and Jennifer Garner's kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15 and 12-year-old Samuel, recently opened up about the split.

She told “Interview” magazine earlier in October: “You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, ‘I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that’."

Lopez, who was also previously married to Ojani Noa and Cris Judd, added: "Being in a relationship doesn’t define me. I can't be looking for happiness in other people. I have to have happiness within myself."

Mzansi was left heartbroken when two-time Rugby World Cup-winning Springboks captain and the media personality took to Instagram in October to announce their divorce.

The beloved South African couple, who were together for more than a decade, met at a dinner party in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape in 2012 and got married in 2016.

They have two children, Nicholas Siyamthanda and Keziah, together and also adopted Siya’s younger siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, after their mother died in 2009.

They released a joint statement on social media to announce their split, stating that the decision comes after “much reflection and open conversations” as well as “from a place of love, respect and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.”

“While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they've always known,” a part of it read.

A few months after their divorce, Siya is focusing on his sports career while Rachel has had a major glow-up as she has posted her ripped physique while working out in the gym. She has also continued her work with the Kolisi Foundation as she continues to advocate for women's empowerment and for social justice.

The 44-year-old actor and the actress, 35, who got engaged last year, were together for three years.

Representatives for Tatum, who was previously married to actress Jenna Dewan, and Kravitz have so far remained tight-lipped about their rumoured separation.

However, “People” magazine recently reported that they are both focused on their careers following their break-up.

"The split is amicable. They realised they're at different stages in life," a source added to the publication.

Meanwhile, Nyong’o has confirmed her breakup with Jackson during a cover shoot for the November issue of “Harper's Bazaar UK”.

“My love for my cat is singular. If I’m ever so lucky to be in a romantic relationship again, it’ll be because of him.
