Audi is apparently working on plans to build an MPV based on the A4 in a segment between the Sportback and the Avant.
Germany's Autobild newspaper reports that, in contrast to the sedan and the station wagon, the MPV would be a separate design with a flexible interior seating arrangement giving a large lounge feeling.
Customers of the van, planned for release in 2016, would possibly be able to choose between a fold-down rear seat or two or three individual seats that can be moved fore and aft.
The report said the basic version would sell for about €33 000 euros (R335 000) - Sapa-dpa
