Not content with winning the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours, Audi also caused a major stir in the paddock with the official debut of the lightweight R8 GT Spyder, hosted by racing legend Jackie Ickx. The GT Spyder has a 412kW/540Nm V10 engine and six-speed R tronic transmission, and lots of carbon fibre to bring its kerb weight down to 1640kg, 0-100 down to 3.8sec and top speed up to 317km/h. Only 333 will be built; price in Germany 207 800 euros (R2 026 000).
