Having already released pictures and videos of its new GS 350 in disguised form, Lexus had just given us a glimpse of it without the camouflage, albeit it's just a shadowed front-end shot.
What it does make clear, however, is the resemblance to the LF-Gh concept car that was revealed earlier this year, with that strange interpretation of Audi's large single-frame grille sure to divide opinion. This grille design will make its way onto all future Lexus models.
Lexus says that its new 5 Series rival, now in its fourth generation, has been completely redesigned inside and out and will also “lead the rest of the Lexus line-up in an entirely new direction of driving dynamics.”
In the words of Lexus vice president Mark Templin: “Today, buyers in the mid-size luxury segment want a more engaging driving experience, styling that makes a statement, and a roomier interior package. With the all-new GS, we're giving them what they asked for, and more.”
Not much else is known about the new GS at this stage, but it's almost certain that it will be powered by a V6 petrol engine mated to an electric motor.
You'll have to wait another two weeks to see proper pictures of the new GS, as the car's due to be revealed at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in the USA on 18 August.
