Rüsselsheim, Germany - In an attempt to pique our interest ahead of its reveal at the Paris Motor Show in October, Opel has released pictures of its new Corsa undergoing pre-launch testing new Frankfurt.
Despite being covered in camouflage, the prototypes still give us a relatively good idea of how the finished product will look. There clearly won't be much change to the basic shape of the five-door and three-door hatchbacks, yet the pair will get a completely fresh look at the front and back.
Judging by the visible elements in the prototypes, the front will receive a large grille reminiscent of the Adam while the rear end will get new taillights that extend onto the boot lid, forging a resemblance to the latest Astra.
On the engine front, Opel said the test units in the pictures are powered by its new 85kW 1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. A 1.4-litre turbopetrol and 1.6-litre turbodiesel are also expected to feature in the range.
The 1-litre engine is mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox and the chassis has been modified to the extent that Opel calls it all-new.
The new hatch is set to go on sale in Europe before the end of the year.
