The facelifted Nissan Magnite compact SUV has been revealed in its home market of India.
Built in Chennai alongside Alliance partner Renault’s mechanically similar Kiger, the Magnite receives enhanced exterior styling as well as new cabin trimmings and features.
At the front end we see a wider grille with black elements flowing into the LED headlights, and a more pronounced lower skid plate element touching it from beneath.
The updates are subtler at the back end, but the revised model does gain fresh taillights with a darker tint.
Furthermore, the facelifted model rolls on new 16-inch ‘diamond cut’ dual-tone alloy wheels.
The cabin retains its familiar design, including a 17.8cm driver information cluster and 20.3cm central infotainment system, but there are new trimmings and features, at least in the Indian-market version.
Highlights among these include a new “360” leatherette package, that includes “Brownish Orange” leatherette wrapped dashboard as well as synthetic leather trim for the steering wheel, door inserts and the seats, which boast a unique honeycomb quilting pattern.
While specifications for the South African market have yet to be confirmed, the Magnite does boast some high-end features on its home turf, including new multi-colour ambient lighting, an Arkamys 3D sound system, wireless phone charger, remote engine start, Around View Monitor and Plasma Cluster air ionizer. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also part of the deal.
Beneath the bonnet, the Nissan Magnite soldiers on with the current pair of 1.0-litre petrol options.
The normally aspirated 1.0 unit produces 53kW and 96Nm and comes with either a five-speed manual or AMT automated transmission.
The turbocharged option is good for 74kW and 160Nm and is paired with either a five-speed manual or CVT gearbox.
The Magnite is currently priced from R240,000 to R377,800 in South Africa, but pricing and availability for the facelifted model will be announced at a later stage.
