Johannesburg - The class of 2013 has set the pace for matriculants this year to top their score, said the Young Communist League of SA in the Alpheus Malivha district (Vhembe) in Limpopo on Wednesday.
“This results gives a challenge to the class of 2014 to perform better than their predecessor,” said its secretary Rantete Welcome in a statement.
“They have set the pace and the class of 2014 must increase the performance percentage of 80.6 percent and in class of 2014 we need to attain not less than 90 percent in this district.”
On Monday, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga announced a 78.2 percent pass rate for the 2013 matric class.
In 2009, when Motshekga took over as minister, the pass rate was 60.6 percent. - Sapa
