A 55-year-old man, Isaac Moeketsi Manonye of Seshego in Limpopo, appeared briefly before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court for the murder of his girlfriend, Sarah Ndini, aged 28.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, said during the court appearance that Manonye abandoned his bail application.
Malabi-Dzhangi said on Wednesday, Ndini and another woman who is a witness in the murder case, visited a certain homestead where Manonye lives. While Ndini entered the premises, the witness remained at the entrance.
“It is alleged that on March 5 2025 in Seshego, the deceased was in the company of a witness who was left at the gate of her homestead when the deceased was entering the house. However, when the witness was about to leave, she heard a noise coming from the house and immediately sought help from the community members, who then arrived at the house to assist," said Malabi-Dzhangi.
Manonye then came out of his house, covered in bloodstains.
The anxious community members then entered the house and found Ndini’s lifeless body with several stab wounds.
“They requested a vehicle to take her to Seshego hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The police were called, and the accused was then arrested,” said Malabi-Dzhangi.
Following the court appearance, the case against Manonye was postponed to April 25 for further investigations.
“The accused remains in custody,” said Malabi-Dzhangi.
Last month, IOL reported that a 49-year-old Limpopo-based police officer made her first appearance in the Morebeng Magistrate's Court for allegedly shooting and killing her son and his girlfriend.
Constance Mosibudu Sathekge, stationed at Botlokwa police station, appeared in court after she was arrested for killing her son, Khutso Sathekge, 25, and his girlfriend, Naledi Mmonwa, 16.
At the time, Malabi-Ndzangi said the victims were found with several gunshot wounds and were taken to hospital.
"However, they succumbed to their injuries upon arrival. After the incident, the accused then called the police, and she was immediately arrested," said Malabi-Ndzangi.
The incident occurred on February 14 when Sathekge reportedly got into a heated argument with her son inside their home.
