There’s always something sweet on offer at coffee shops.
But what Laura Roberts gets every time she visits her local Starbucks isn’t found in the display counter.
For a lovestruck barista has been scrawling messages on the 19-year-old’s cardboard cups in a bid to win her over.
In the latest example, he crossed out part of a warning message about the drink’s temperature, leaving the words: ‘Careful, you’re extremely hot.’
Unfortunately, his actions have left a sour taste with Miss Roberts’s mother, Alex Blaine, who posted a photo of the ‘inappropriate’ message on Facebook.
But Miss Roberts, who works in the beauty industry, told MailOnline: “He’s a lovely boy. I don’t find it creepy... I’ve got a fiance so sadly he’s out of luck but I’m sure I’m not the only one he’s done it for.”
The coffee, from a Starbucks near the teenager’s home in north London, had her name misspelt as Lora, as well as an arrow pointing to the message telling her to “read it”.
Miss Roberts, who said the barista “always” writes jokey messages for her, sent a photo to her mother who put it on a Facebook group called S*** London.
She wrote: “Creepy barista writing inappropriate messages on my daughter’s coffee cup,” before adding sarcastically: “Looks like son-in-law material.”
Commenter Tim Ward wrote: “I’m sure he’s fallen foul of some harassment laws there.”
But another, Phil Goddard, posted: “If someone wrote that on my double espresso it would make my day.”
A Starbucks spokesman said: “We’re sorry if anyone was offended by this.”
