Tributes are pouring in following the passing of Ashwin Trikamjee.

Trikamjee was the President of the South African Hindu Maha Sabha and Board Director at the 1860 Heritage Centre.

"Mr Trikamjee was a constant source of strength, wisdom, and guidance to all whom he came into contact with. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Om Shanti," read a social media post by the 1860 Heritage Centre.

Trikamjee was very vocal on his beliefs about religious tolerance in the community.

Hundreds of people have shared messages of condolences on social media. 

"Sincere condolences to the family. Ashwin Trikamjee's legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire us all. May his memory be a blessing," wrote Reshini Misra.

"Condolences to the bereaved family. Remember him for many years as the President of the South African Hindu Maha Saba. During the Apartheid days when Football was segregated he was President of the Federation Professional League (FPL). A true legend and ambassador for the Indian Community. May his soul rest in eternal peace.Aum Shanti Shanti Shanti Aum," added Daya Chetty.

"Absolutely sad news. Heartfelt condolences to the family. A true legend ever so humble and loving. Rest well uncle Ashwin," shared Kamini Naidoo.

"A great loss! Condolences to his family, the community and the 1860 Heritage Centre," said Barbara Moodley.
