The Govender brothers are expected to hear their fate in their long-drawn bail application.

Durban Magistrate Kevin Broughton is expected to deliver his judgment on Monday morning.

Ferrel Govender, 40, the owner of Pro-Secure, and his younger brother Darren Govender, 35, a businessman are accused of killing Shailen Singh.

Singh, 32, also a businessman was gunned down on December 29, 2024 in what the State says was due to an alleged love affair.

Singh is accused of having an affair with Ferrel's girlfriend.

The brothers began their application for bail on January 13, 2025.

They were arrested on January 1,2025 after handing themselves over to police in connection with the murder.

The brothers have denied any involvement in Singh's murder with the State arguing that there was a strong prima facie case against the accused.

In closing argument on Friday at the Durban Magistrate's Court the State further argued that both brothers failed to provide the court with exceptional circumstances as to why they should be released be on bail.
