Cape Town - The City of Cape Town says the disruption of water supplies in the Table View region were due to a damaged pipe which is undergoing repair.
"City of Cape Town advises residents of the Parklands, Sunningdale, West Beach, Blaauwberg Sands and Table View areas that a damaged 400 mm bulk main is causing a disruption to water supply in these areas," said the city in a statement released late Monday.
"Unfortunately, it is difficult to estimate when water will be restored but residents are assured repair teams are on site. Residents are advised to please ensure taps are closed to prevent possible water loss, or water damage when supply is restored.
"The City apologises for any inconvenience caused."
Water usage is also still a concern for the City as dams that supply Cape Town declined by only 0,5% over the past week to 45,9% of storage capacity.
Cape Town’s collective water consumption for the past week decreased by 7 million litres per day to 582 million litres per day of collective usage.
According to the City’s records dams were at 21,3% of storage capacity at the same time in 2018, and at 21,6% of storage capacity in 2017.
Level 3 restrictions remain in place to aid dam recovery.
