Metrorail has announced that the Malmesbury train service will be temporarily suspended on Friday, September 13, following a regular maintenance inspection that identified critical technical issues requiring immediate attention.

Passengers were notified of the stoppage and the need for significant maintenance in a statement released on Tuesday.

Metrorail has urged affected passengers to find alternative transportation during the disruption and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The Malmesbury service has been suspended; however, other Metrorail services on the Northern and Southern lines will continue to operate normally.

Metrorail has assured that ongoing maintenance work will not disrupt its operations, which include the Fish Hoek-Cape Town line, the Simon's Town shuttle, and connections between Cape Town, Bellville, and Eerste River.

Metrorail has not specified when the Malmesbury service would return to its usual operations. The company has stated that the advise is subject to change and will give updates when new information becomes available.

“Please note that this advisory is subject to change, and we will keep you informed of any further updates,” said the Metrorail.
