An inquest into a British woman's death revealed that she was trampled to death in a field of cows while walking her dog.

Rebekah Abigail Ann Morris was found dead in a field in Leicestershire in 2022.

SkyNews reported that Morris sent a message to her mother while taking her dog for a walk, just before 9pm on the evening of July 9, 2022.

When she stopped responding to text messages, her worried parents set out to look for her.

According to the report, Morris was traced by the photograph she had sent to her mother.

When she was found, paramedics attended the scene and despite their best efforts, the 29-year-old went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.

According to a forensic pathologist, Morris's wounds were consistent with hoof marks and she suffered extensive damage to her liver which led to her death.

Speaking at an inquest into Morris's death at the Leicester Town Hall, Dr Michael Biggs, said Morris suffered blunt force trauma as well as scrapes on her left shoulder and upper chest area.

Biggs said that, based on the wounds, her death did not involve a person.

The court was also told how the footpath used had markings placed along the field's boundary.

The farm owner's son, Guy Hutton, said he did not own the cows on the field however, there were at least 18 cows and a calf on the field when Morris went for her walk. He said his father has since sold the farm and had been upset by Morris's death.

He added that the animals always behaved in a docile manner.

The inquest continues.
