Pretoria - ActionSA has reconfigured its caucus leadership in the City of Tshwane council, saying the aim was to continue representing its supporters and members of the public in the quest to boost service delivery.
Regional party chairperson Oupa Mathibela said Alderman Anniruth Kissoonduth retained his position as caucus leader, while Thabang Sebotsane and Henriette Frohlich would continue in their roles as spokesperson and secretary respectively.
“We welcome Jacob Mathabathe as caucus chairperson, replacing Kholofelo Morodi, and Kgosietsile Kgosiemang as chief whip, replacing outgoing councillor Sizwe Skhosana.”
Mathibela said Kissoonduth had made the appointments in line with the strategic position that the party was taking in the City of Tshwane in order to achieve its manifesto objectives.
“We are supporting him in reconfiguring the leadership. The announcement came out on Thursday morning. The previous leadership was notified and the incoming leadership was notified.”
He said some of the responsibilities the leadership took on formed part of the party’s last manifesto that took place before the local government elections, but there was a list of things the party wanted to see implemented by the City as they went into coalition with the DA-led administration.
“One of those things is the in-sourcing of the workers in the City of Tshwane. It is one of the points that we are not prepared to relent on; it is critical.
“It then becomes their responsibility to ensure that what we have promised the people who voted for us is being implemented in the City of Tshwane.”
Mathibela said these included the relocation of Mamelodi flood victims, who were pleased when ActionSA’s MMC for Human Settlements, Abel Tau, announced that land was found for them in a place where they would live with dignity and integrity.
At the same time, Tau had been instrumental in dealing with the water crises in areas like Hammanskraal, and had criticised improper work or contracting.
