Hot on the heels of unveiling her latest album, Stone Cold Heart, award-winning R&B sensation, Elaine, has been named as the Spotify EQUAL Artist for October 2024.

The platform aims to empower female voices in Africa by highlighting artists pushing boundaries, with Elaine being cited as an example of the talent it supports.

With hit singles like You’re the One and When I’m in Love, she has demonstrated her talent for delivering memorable melodies and heartfelt storytelling.

Speaking about the milestone she says, “I’m honoured to be part of the EQUAL programme and incredibly proud to stand as an independent African woman, carving out my own path and claiming space in an industry traditionally dominated by men,” said Elaine.

She also shares insights about her album, describing it as a deeply personal and confessional project chronicles her journey through trauma, heartache, and transformation, featuring a blend of powerful soulful ballads alongside new sonic directions that reflect her growth.

Released on October 11, the album connects with listeners who have experienced their own struggles by providing closure and empowerment.

The album further showcases her resilience as a South African R&B breakthrough artist, solidifying her position as a leading voice in contemporary music.

In addition to her musical achievements, Elaine is recognised for her advocacy and empowering messages and has used her platform to promote mental health awareness and inspire young people to pursue their dreams.

Spotify's Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, Phiona Okumu, expressed excitement about the platform's continued use of the EQUAL Africa program to support women in music, amplifying their voices and showcasing their talents globally.

“Spotify's EQUAL Africa programme is dedicated to empowering female voices in Africa, spotlighting artists who continue to push boundaries with their artistry,”

“Elaine exemplifies the calibre of talent the program aims to support. Spotify is proud to be associated with her and will continue to use the EQUAL Africa program to provide support for women in music, amplifying their voices and helping to showcase their incredible talents to a global audience,” said Okumu.

For those who do not know her music she says describe the sound, tone, and style as a true representation of her life, her heart and thoughts and at its core RnB.
