Johannesburg - In all aspects of society, there are phenomenal women who are making a difference in the lives of those around them while also striving to new heights. This Women’s Month, “The Saturday Star” is profiling some of the nation’s leading ladies.

Bonang Matheba is an award-winning media personality and businesswoman. As the nation’s darling, the 35-year-old is also affectionately known as “Queen B”, acknowledgement of her status as one of the biggest celebrities on the African continent.

Matheba, from Mafikeng in the North West province, has cemented herself over the years as a popular presenter, businesswoman, radio personality, producer, model and philanthropist.

She is also a Global Citizen Ambassador and has been described as a style icon. She is invariably the best dressed at every event she attends and has worked with some of the biggest designers.

She even had her own reality show, “Being Bonang”, which documented her glamorous and busy life. The multi-season followed her around the world as she travelled for her various ventures.

Matheba has made many strides in the industry since her TV debut on “Manhattan Fantasy Challenge”in 2002 at the age of 15. Her first big break came on SABC 1’s popular music show, “Live AMP”. Queen B co-hosted the show from 2007 to 2012.

She has also worked on “Afternoon Express”, “Clash of the Choirs SA”, and “Presenter Search on 3”. Queen B also had a successful radio career on YFM and Metro FM and has won a number of awards, including the “Best Inspiration and Influence” award at the Global Social Awards in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2019.

Matheba went on to launch a luxurious beverage brand, The House of BNG, which she revealed with her Brut and Brut Rosé Méthode Cap Classiques (MCCs) champagne. This saw her become the first black woman to be a member of the Cap Classique Producers Association with her MCCs.

The media personality is also a social media force, amassing millions of followers on Instagram and Twitter, and with a loyal fan base, she continues to reach new heights.
