Tiger Woods on Tuesday ended speculation about when he could be seen back on a golf course, as he confirmed he would play in next week’s family tournament the PNC Championship.
Speaking in commentary last week at the Hero World Challenge where Woods was tournament host, the 15-time major winner would not commit to when he would play again.
This came after he underwent back surgery in September.
Woods will team up with son Charlie as the duo finished fifth last year to go with a runner-up finish in 2021.
Family time
"I'm very excited to head back to the PNC Championship next week with Charlie," Woods said in a statement. "Playing together is something we look forward to and it's always more special when you're surrounded by friends and family.”
The 36-hole scramble tournament on December 21 and 22 at the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Orlando, will see 20 family teams compete against each other.
The tournament format allows for one major or Players’ Championship winner to combine with a family member who does not play on a professional golf tour.
Last week while in commentary, Woods said that Charlie who is 15, already hits it further than him.
Woods who turns 49 later this month has struggled to play golf in the last three years due to poor health following a serious car crash in February 2021.
Following the accident, Woods battled to recover after ankle surgery and has also struggled with long-term back injuries over the same period.
In fact, Woods had a sixth back operation of his career in September in an attempt to alleviate back spasms that have been evident in his limited appearances on the golf course in 2024.
