Vincent Kompany has ruffled Manchester City feathers in a bid to stave off complacency within Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Going into tomorrow’s FA Cup final hunting for a domestic Treble, Kompany said: ‘Every now and then when things are getting too comfortable I go a little aggressive in training or I speak up and say what I think.
‘The main thing is that these guys, together with the manager, are always able to understand what the priority is. Winning one title was not enough, it had been done before. Back to back — that is special.’
Kompany’s future will become clearer after the final against Watford, with the 33-year-old having not yet signed the one-year contract offered.
‘I know this team and they are like a pack of lions,’ Kompany added. ‘When this team’s hungry, they are such a special team.’ Meanwhile, Watford’s Etienne Capoue has admitted he would not be watching the Cup final if he wasn’t playing. ‘No way,’ he said. ‘No chance. I would watch the basketball! I watch a lot of it. I follow the Lakers.
‘I love football, but there is not only football in life.
‘I try to do a lot of activities. I don’t know what I will do after football, but if I am too focused on football it would not be smart. It is good to get a lot of information about other aspects of life.’
