Under-pressure Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has received a vote of confidence from David Moyes, who had a brief spell in charge of the Premier League giants.

With United struggling in the league, speculation over Ten Hag’s future has into overdrive.

On Tuesday, a number of United chiefs, including Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer were holed up in the club’s London headquarters, with the Dutchman’s job thought to be number one on the agenda.

However, speaking to the BBC at a Legends of Football event on Monday, Moyes said Ten Hag had handled the pressures of the job well.

“I think he’s doing a brilliant job. I think he’s showed brilliant resilience in the situation he’s in. I think he should be credited for how well he’s conducted himself,” Moyes was quoted by the BBC..

“He’s as far as I know, I don’t see him ducking any questions or any media interviews with you people put forward to him so I think you have to give him great credit for that.

“But it’s a job which is going to attract immense pressure, immense people talking. So I have to say, I think he’s doing a brilliant job.”

Moyes was himself given the boot by United after just eight months on the job back in 2014. Moyes was appointed by the club following the sudden retirement of the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Under former Everton boss Moyes, United’s decline was sudden and dramatic, and the club could only manage a seventh place finish in the league having won it the previous season.
