Durban City FC are sitting at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the halfway mark of the season, while another former PSL club Cape Town Spurs find themselves hovering near the relegation zone.
The club formerly known as Maritzburg United underwent a significant transformation before the start of the season, rebranding as Durban City FC and relocating to Durban.
The move to leave Pietermaritzburg came after the club lost its home ground, Harry Gwala Stadium to Royal AM after they were relegated from the Betway Premiership.
In a statement released last year, the club confirmed its departure from the "City of Choice," citing a lack of support from the Msunduzi Municipality despite numerous attempts to engage them over the issue.

“Despite our numerous efforts and attempts to engage in dialogue and find a solution regarding the use of a stadium for official league matches over the last 12 months, we have been unable to secure the necessary support to sustain the club in Pietermaritzburg and challenge for promotion back to the Premier Soccer League"
However, their move to Durban seems to be paying off. They are currently in first place on the log table with 31 points from 15 matches and could secure automatic promotion to the top tier of South African football if they continue their impressive form.
Meanwhile, Cape Town Spurs FC who were relegated from the top flight last season, are currently struggling in the lower tier and find themselves in a precarious 14th place in the log table with only 13 points after 15 matches.
