As Mamelodi Sundowns prepare to face SuperSport United in the Betway Premiership on Tuesday, star players Teboho Mokoena and Khuliso Mudau have been pictured with EFF leader Julius Malema.

Mokoena made national headlines after the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire earlier this year after stating that the red berets leader was his favourite president.

In front of a crowd of about 1000 people who had gathered at the OR Tambo International Airport to welcome the national team home, Mokoena proudly declared his love for Malema.

“I’m really happy to see President Julius, he is my favourite president in the country,” Mokoena said at the time.

That love seems to have not died down as the midfield maestro took to Instagram to post picture of himself with the EFF leader.

Mudau also took to his Instagram stories to post his picture with Malema.

According to SABC Sport, Mokoena and Mudau have been dropped from Masandawana’s match day squad that is set to face Matsatsantsa a Pitori with head coach Manqoba Mnqithi citing stiff competition in the team.

“To fight complacency at Sundowns the biggest advantage we have is competition. When you think you will play whenever you want to play – you will always have a problem.

"The other player behind you is just waiting for an opportunity – just one chance to play. It becomes difficult to take out a player that has performed well and the team is winning.

"That’s why, in a club like Sundowns, for each and every player to know the little opportunity they get… you must use it to good effect because you will be pleasantly surprised to find yourself not playing,“ Mnqithi said as per SABC Sport.
