Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim has told Red Devils fans he does not like their chants about him as the new coach.

United romped to a 4-0 win over Everton in the English Premier League on Sunday, following their 3-2 victory over Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League.

It meant Amorim has drawn one and won two since he officially took charge of the team.

United supporters began singing "Give it Up" by KC and the Sunshine Band on Sunday at Old Trafford but it made Amorim feel uncomfortable.

"I don't like my chant," Amorim said on Monday. "I don't like it. I feel a little bit... not embarrassed, but because I'm the coach they have to chant for the players and for the club.

"It's not a good thing for me. I understand and I really appreciate the connection with the supporters, but I want them to support the team and the players because they are on the pitch, I'm outside the pitch.

"But I am really honoured about that and I feel a connection with the supporters, but we know we need results to maintain that.”

Amorim had already been under scrutiny for employing a new 3-4-3 formation at the club.

Following the departure of Erik ten Hag, United interim-coach Ruud van Nisterlrooy used the more familiar 4-3-3 formation. Ten Hag had tended to change between a 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations.

Amorim employed three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards for the majority of his time in charge of Sporting Lisbon.

“People talk about the 3-4-3. That is not the concern, the system is a system, but the understanding of the game I think we have to improve a lot in this area,” Amorim told SkySports after his first game in charge with the new formation over the weekend.
