The hotel’s general manager said inspired by the rich composition of African art and nature, Ardmore crafts unique ceramic art, fashion, and luxury décor items that blend beauty into everyday life.

“Founded in 1985 by Fée Halsted, the studio's roots trace back to a remote farm in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains, where Halsted began a journey of teaching local artisans the intricate craft of modelling and painting pottery.

“With its fusion of artistic ingenuity and cultural heritage, Ardmore Design's shop lures all those who seek to capture and share the essence of its remarkable story through the lens of Instagram,” said Nayager.

She added that with myths and legends that abound, local legend holds that the pool at the base of Howick Falls serves as the dwelling place of the Inkanyamba, a colossal serpent-like creature.

“According to lore, only traditional healers, can safely approach the falls, and even they do so solely to offer prayers and acts of worship to the Inkanyamba, ancestral spirits, and the 'Great God',” said Nayager.
