Johannesburg - All roads led to “celeb city” in Pretoria this past weekend where renowned media personalities, music artists and general guests filled up the arena to witness who would take the coveted title between the hip-hop talents Cassper Nyovest and Priddy Ugly after weeks of verbal clashes.
The highly-anticipated match between Priddy Ugly and Nyovest was not as compelling as people envisioned it, particularly with claims that it was shortest matches one could ever anticipate.
While the audience was warming up to the artists locking horns, Nyovest took everyone by surprise when he won by knock-out in the first round.
With 5 rounds allotted to them, Nyovest had decided that it was his game after a seamless win.
Commenting after the fight Nyovest hailed Priddy Ugly for making a bold step and deciding to fight with him.
“I respect Priddy Ugly. This was an easy fight to make. Everyone I wanted to fight had so many excuses. This guy didn’t care about the weight, didn’t care about the time, he just said yes. And I respect him for that.” said Nyovest.
In an interview with The Star Priddy Ugly had pointed out that the fight was about highlighting the significance of the boxing sport.
Priddy Ugly said the reason he agreed to be part of the big fight was not for ego or proving who was the bigger man. He said a number of his friends were boxers.
“If we can bring as much attention to the sport of boxing as possible and facilitate an opportunity for guys who are boxers, we can get more eyes and more audience to it. It is very important to help the sport.”
He added: “People do not understand the work that we put into this thing. Just last week I ended up in hospital for fatigue and dehydration because that’s how hard we are pushing ourselves. The doctors said I should take a break for two and half weeks and I said I can’t because I am fighting in three weeks.” said Priddy Ugly.
While he was talking about his win, Nyovest also challenged AKA for a fight claiming that he had been on the run at the mention of the fight.
The Star had reported that the Mama I made it hitmaker told AKA to grow the guts to get in the ring with him.
Refiloe Phoolo fondly known as Cassper Nyovest had an interview on eNCA before his win against Priddy Ugly when he suddenly took aim at his nemesis AKA.
He claimed that he wanted to face off with him but he kept running off.
“Initially I started boxing because I was supposed to fight AKA and then he pulled out and has been running ever since. I definitely want to fight AKA so until he grows the guts to do (so) I am going to be fighting everyone else,” said Nyovest
This marks the third fight that Nyovest has fought after facing off with the popular YouTuber Slik Talk and the popular musician Anga “NaakMusiQ” Makhubalo who he lost his fight against.
