It seems like the rivalry between Cassper Nyovest and AKA is far from over, as they continue to fire shots at each other.

In an interview with eNCA ahead of his highly anticipated boxing match against Priddy Ugly, Refiloe Phoolo aka Cassper Nyovest took aim at his nemesis AKA.

“Initially I started boxing because I was supposed to fight AKA and then he pulled out and has been running ever since. I definitely want to fight AKA so until he grows the guts to do I am going to be fighting everyone else,” said Nyovest

The spat between the pair intensified when Nyovest took over “The Braai Show” when Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes did not return for the second season.

The announcement that Nyovest would be a host on the show elicited mixed reactions; some people were excited, others felt he had usurped AKA.

AKA asked the SABC to halt “The Braai Show with Cassper Nyovest” and took legal action.

In 2021, he made claims that he owned 50% of the show's intellectual property; however, Cake Media and MakhuduCom disputed this.

The legal battle between AKA, MakhuduCom and Cake Media over the copyright of “The Braai Show” ended in a victory for the rapper.

When Nyovest held the reins for season two he hosted a star-studded list of guests, clinching trends every Wednesday.

Though the show sparked controversy with Nyovest as a host, he was excited about it.

“With my new sneaker range, I wanted to give people a taste of how it feels to be me. I want to explore this even further on ‘The Braai Show with Cassper Nyovest’. Not only will I try and get guests to reveal things people didn't know about them, but I also want to show my fans a different side to my public persona. And, while I may not be a braai master, I'm pretty handy cooking on the coals. It's going to be fun,” he said.

In the interview with eNCA, he said he is looking to win the coming bout with Priddy Ugly.

“Not only win, but it will be a knock-out. I could do it in the first round but I need to be careful because I have never seen this guy fight but as soon as I see him taking it I don't think he will finish the fight.”
