Gospel music enthusiasts are counting the days to one of the most highly anticipated events in the world of music, which is set to assemble local and internationally acclaimed household names in the gospel industry.

Multi-award-winning and chart-topping gospel heavyweights will grace the inaugural “Replenishment” concert on October 22 at SuperSport Park Cricket Stadium.

Esteemed names such as Joyous Celebration, Benjamin Dube, Dumi Mkokstad, Dr Tumi, Andile Ka Majola, Ntokozo Mbambo, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Thinah Zungu, Sbu Noah, Takie Ndou, Mmatema, Ncebakazi Msomi, Kgosi, Ndu Shezi, Winnie Mashaba and many other talents are set to deliver performances at this concert.

The Star spoke with renowned radio host Thabo “Tbo Touch” Molefe, who is at the helm of bringing this event to life.

He details the significance of the event, revealing that it will be the first time the listeners of his radio show, “Replenishment Monday” on Metro FM, meet the singers of the replenishment.

Tbo Touch uses about an hour of his drive time slot on air to minister Godly refreshments and prepares the listeners for the week ahead.

Speaking about the essence of the affair, he said it came as a request from listeners, and with him having always dreamt of being hands-on in an event of this nature, it was nothing short of amazing.

“There was a request from people and they asked how can we have a collabo of all the biggest names and we would love to see Joyous being part of it. And I said, okay I’ll make it happen. And we went and made it happen,” he said.

“We went on air and asked the listeners to choose the line-up with artists they want to see in the line-up and these are the names they came with. We didn’t compile the line-up; it was compiled by the Metro FM listeners.”

Asked about the response from listeners and those who love gospel, he said it has been remarkable.

“Unbelievable. I have no words, I am grateful. We took a step of faith by putting it in a stadium. We had the option to take to the Sun Square Arena or any dome, but we said let’s go out in big numbers. Let’s go big.”

He says he hopes the event makes a good mark on people.

“I really want to see the broken being put together. I want to see the one dealing with mental issues find some way of comfort. Some people lost a lot due to the pandemic, just feeling that love again. I am hoping for a fellowship more than anything. This is not about which church you belong to. It’s not about who is your pastor. We want people to take the church element out of this and put the spiritual universe.”

He said this was something he was thrilled to do, particularly being someone fond of the gospel.

“I feel justified because I am a big lover of gospel and not just gospel life. Years ago before I left Metro, I introduced gospel during the week. Nobody did that and I did that for six years. What better way to come back than to put together the biggest concert? And by putting on this concert, you assemble the best of the best.”
