Three men have been arrested after robbing a shop in Kagiso, near Krugersdorp.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said the men, aged 27, 28 and 32, were arrested after being apprehended by people in the area.

The shop manager was inside paying for a milk delivery when one of the men pushed him from behind.

When he tried to see who it was, he was hit in the left eye with a sharp object. The men then ordered him and his assistants to lie on the floor.

Sibiya said a robber with a firearm forced one of them to show him where the money was kept.

The robbers took R4 000 cash and airtime vouchers valued at R3 000.

As they were running away, one of their victims blew a whistle and people gave chase, catching and assaulting them before handing them over to the police.

The money and vouchers were recovered, and an unlicensed firearm and a knife were seized.

One of the robbers was injured and taken to hospital. The others were being held at Kagiso police station. – Sapa
