EARLINGTON Secondary celebrated unprecedented success with a 100% matric pass rate and multiple teacher awards, establishing itself as the leading educational institution in the Phoenix Central Circuit and Mafukuzela Gandhi CMC.
The school was ranked the number one school in Phoenix, at the CMC Awards Function held last week.
For the third consecutive year, they received the highest pass rate in the Phoenix circuit for the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations. In the 2023 matric exams the school obtained a 98,6%.
They topped that with a 100% pass rate with 88.62% Bachelor passes for the 2024 matric exams.
Many of the school's teachers were also recognised with the top teacher award at both the Phoenix Central Circuit Awards and the Mafukuzela Gandhi CMC awards. Five teachers received the CMC top teacher award for their outstanding performance and eight teachers received the top teacher award at the Phoenix Central Circuit Awards.
Dean Achary, the principal of the school for the past seven years, had spent 38 years at the school, with 16 of those as a deputy principal.
He said their achievements reflected the dedication of both pupils and teachers.
“I am very proud of my teachers. They worked hard to ensure the pupils were ready for the exams. They worked overtime every day, doing revision with the pupils after school. This is the kind of dedication that created the great results we obtained.
“The pupils worked equally hard and really delivered. They went over and above to ensure they worked to their full potential. Their excellent results will be remembered for years to come,” said Achary.
Of the 15 subjects offered, 14 recorded a 100% pass rate.
“This achievement has positioned us as the number one school in the Phoenix Central Circuit and the number one school in the entire Mafukuzela Gandhi CMC, which includes Phoenix, Verulam, Tongaat, Inanda, and KwaMashu.
“Above all, our top pupil, Risendran Naidoo, was named the number one pupil in the Quintile 5 category in the Mafukuzela Gandhi CMC, a remarkable achievement that showcased the calibre of pupils at our school,” said Achary.
The school was also honoured with the Circuit Education Specialist (CES) Award for being the best-performing school in the Mafukuzela Gandhi CMC.
“With our status as the number one school in both Phoenix Central and the entire Mafukuzela Gandhi CMC, we continue to set the benchmark for academic excellence, proving that dedication and perseverance lead to extraordinary success,” said a proud Achary.
