Kestell – Two more female bodies were exhumed on a farm in Kestell on Friday, believed to be the victims of a serial killer operating in the area, Free State police said.
The bodies were exhumed after suspected serial killer Lentsha Molefe, 32, who was arrested on Tuesday, allegedly admitted to at least seven murders, most of them girlfriends.
The latest find brings the number of bodies recovered to six, with police being unable to locate the seventh body.
“The first two bodies were discovered on the 21 October 2015 after the farm community suspected a foul smell from a shallow grave in the bushes and alerted the police,” said police spokeswoman Thandi Mbambo.
Shortly after the discovery Molefe allegedly told police where he buried his other victims.
“After pointing out the graves the forensic team from Pretoria descended on Kestell… and resumed digging in the identified areas [and] on Wednesday the 28 October 2015 they discovered the body of a three-year-old boy… and on Thursday 29 October the body of a woman was also found,” Mbambo said.
“On the 30 October two more bodies were exhumed adjacent to one another. The alleged burnt body believed to be first to be killed in 2008 could not be found as years has lapsed since her murder.”
Molefe allegedly strangled his victims, including four girlfriends, one relative, and the three-year-old son of one of the deceased.
Molefe appeared in court earlier this week after being charged with the first two murders. The case was postponed to November 4.
“He will be now be charged on six counts of murder,” said Mbambo.
