Bloemfontein - The Bethulie Regional Court has sentenced a 30-year-old man to 15 years in prison for the rape of a 15-year-old girl, Free State police said on Friday.
Sergeant Ikobeng Hlubi said Jeremia Molefi was sentenced to for the rape of a minor. The rape took place on June 16, 2013 at Top location in Springfontein.
“According to the police records the victim was walking with her older sisters when the suspect approached them and attacked the elder sisters and then ran away with the victim, 15 and took her to his home,” Hlubi said in a statement.
“The suspect repeatedly raped her at his home and only let her go in the morning the following day. Upon arrival at home the victim told her sister what had happened. The police were informed about the incident, and the suspect was arrested on the same day.”
Molefi had remained in police custody until he was sentenced.
