Bloemfontein – Three men appeared in the Bultfontein Magistrate’s Court for the murder of their friend in Phahameng, Free State police said on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Ian Gaobepe said Mojalefa Ntep, 28, Tshepiso Ntsane, 25, and Lebohang Molefi, 26, appeared in court on Monday. The case was postponed to July 8.

“On Saturday, 27 June 2015 at around 4.10am a 24-year-old male, Jim Qwembula, was brutally murdered outside his home in Phahameng, Bultfontein by three of his friends. This happened after an apparent incident that had occurred earlier that evening,” Gaobepe said.

“The victim had allegedly earlier that evening fought with one of the suspects and stabbed him. After that initial incident earlier, the suspect who had been stabbed refused to open a case. He later organised two of his friends and went looking for the deceased.”

Gaobepe said they found Qwembula at his house in Phahameng and forced him out of the house.

The three men allegedly beat him and stabbed him with a garden fork on his left leg and a panga on the head.

Ntepe, Ntsane and Molefi were arrested and charged with murder.
