Cape Town will again be the host town for the Loeries Creative Week, set to take place in and around the Cape CBD, from October 7 to 12, 2024.

The weeklong creative festival, which comprises specialist events and awards ceremonies celebrating the best of Africa and the Middle East in advertising and brand communication, will take place at the City Hall and the Homecoming Centre, in District Six.

Commenting on the return of the Loeries Creative Week to Cape Town, Safety and Security Mayco JP Smith said the City’s partnership with the Loeries over the last four years has made significant contributions to the economy.

Smith said: “Over the three editions, those attending Loeries Creative Week have spent over R94 million combined during their stay in our city. Additionally, those three editions have had an overall impact of R139 million on Cape Town’s GDP.

“We are looking forward to welcoming all the creatives to our city for 2024 and sharing ideas on how to grow the creative industry further.”

Coinciding with its fourth tenure conducting its awards and ceremonies in Cape Town, the Loeries will also celebrate its 46th anniversary.

According to the organisers, the 46th anniversary of the Loeries Creative Week is a celebration of the resilience and determination of our brand communications community.

Announcing the theme for this year’s Loeries Creative Week, ‘This is tough, so are you’.

Loeries CEO Preetesh Sewraj said that it reflected the challenges faced in the industry and the strength showcased to overcome them.

He said: “Our Loeries Creative Week line-up celebrates the grit and innovation that defines our industry.”

Seraj also commented that the Loeries Awards were the pinnacle of recognition for innovative brand communications, showcasing the rich diversity of creative talent.

He said: “Each year, the creative community from Africa & the Middle East converges in Cape Town to celebrate the region's most exceptional creative work.”

The Loeries Creative Week, which usually follows a process of masterclasses, judging events and award ceremonies, will once more host an array of exciting events.

From the LoeriesExpo, a Student Expo, a three-day expo with 16 exhibitors open to the public for free, Tik Tok masterclasses and the famed Awards.

Loeries Board Chairperson Kabelo Moshapalo said: “The Loerie Awards are a highlight of the creative industry's calendar, and we are eager to recognize and reward the outstanding work produced in Africa and the Middle East. These awards add immense value to creatives and brands, providing a platform for inspiration, networking, and growth."

Meanwhile, for its judging segment this year, over 189 judges will oversee 17 panels and 12 countries across Africa and the Middle East, with 5 Jury Presidents from outside the region.

The Loeries International Jury Presidents will include BBDO Group Germany CCO Frank Hahn, Jack Renwick Studio Strategic and Creative Director Jack Renwick, Uncharted Founder and CCO Laura Jordan Bambach, Publicis Groupe DACH CCO Dennis May, and Independent Creative Ajay Gahlaut.

The Loeries will also launch a new category this year, the B2B Creativity category to celebrate business-to-business work, and the expansion of its Media Innovation category into 11 new subcategories and 4 craft categories.
