DA fraud accused councillor Nora Grose’s next postponement date will mark nearly a year since her arrest.
Grose made a brief appearance at the Bellville Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday where the case was postponed yet again for further investigation.
Grose and co-accused Reuben Swartz are out on R10 000 bail and face charges of fraud and money laundering, relating to allegations of misappropriating City of Cape Town funds intended for food relief last year.
It is also alleged that Grose and Swartz, chairmen of the South African Religious Civic Organisation, conspired to divert aid funds from the City of Cape Town to a church in Table View, to which some city officials are said to be connected.
The funds amount to R170 000.
Weekend Argus previously reported that Grose had been removed from the City of Cape Town’s Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), roughly a month after she was elected as part of the committee.
The MPAC oversees the executive functionaries of the council and also had the mandate to ensure good governance in the Cape Town metro. This includes oversight over municipal entities.
