Over the past 96 hours, allegations of stolen music have been flying all over social media. All bringing into disrepute some of the hottest tunes at the moment created by some of the country's most respected artists.

On Sunday house DJ Prince Kaybee took to Twitter, claiming fellow muso Cassper Nyovest stole the chord progression of his hit Charlotte, for his new song with Davido, Check on You.

Chord progressions? Yeah, we didn't know either, so we did a little research, and according to Music Theory Academy this is what chord progression means:

"The term chord progression simply refers to the order in which chords are played in a song/piece of music.Play a few different songs/pieces and you will see that there are various different ways in which composers order chords. However, the good news is that there are a few simple guidelines which will help you massively when writing your own chord progressions."

In response to the alleged theft, Nyovest offered up a fun fact, that his chord progression is actually from the afro pop group Malaika's 2003 hit Destiny and Red Cafe's Fly Together Davido, who was really drawn into the discussion purely by association, simply responded 'Congratulations', to Prince Kaybee's dismayed tweet. Was that dripping with sarcasm or what?

Responses to this alleged snatching have been both positive and negative, with one tweep urging Nyovest to do the right thing, while others said snatching or not, hit is a hit, is a hit.

In another incident, Prince Kaybee was this time accused by fellow dance music hit maker Shimza, of theft by getting a collaboration with LaSoulmates and TNS featuring Zanda for the song Club Controller. The song has been getting bodies gyrating since late last year, so why Shimza raised this so recently, remains to be heard. To add insult to injury, Prince Kaybee uploaded an image of himself with TNS on Instagram today. Spicy much?

Whether the jam belongs to Shimza or Prince Kaybee, remains to be heard. All we know, is that the song is a sure fire banger. Infact, all we'd like to see is harmony, and some real good music coming our way so that we can all close off the summer with a bang. The discussion of sampling, fair usage, collaborations and what it actually means is something we will continue someday.

By the end of the day, Prince Kaybee released a Twitter video explaining his side of the Club Controller saga. He's joined by LaSoulmates, TNS and Zanda. See below:
